Last updated
TowingCalc reaches people at the moment they are working out whether their rig can carry a trailer, which is usually days or weeks before they buy the hardware. If you make towing equipment, that is a useful place to be.
What we will do
- Include your product in a roundup, comparison or spec sheet on its published merits.
- Correct a specification we have wrong, quickly, if you can point at the published source.
- Cover a category we currently leave empty, if there is a real product with a real service path in it.
- Link your product from the calculators whose arithmetic it actually matches.
What we will not do
- Claim we tested something. We research from published specifications, manufacturer towing guides and owner-review consensus, and we say so on every page. We will not write a hands-on review we did not do.
- Publish a specification you have not published. If the figure is not in your own documentation, it does not go in a table. On this subject an estimate that reads as a rating is a safety problem.
- Remove a caveat. Where a product has a known limitation that shows up consistently in owner reviews, it stays on the card. That is what makes the recommendation worth anything.
- Recommend a part into an application it is not rated for, or soften the point that no hitch, air spring or helper spring raises a vehicle capacity.
Affiliate relationships
We earn commissions on qualifying purchases made through links on this site, which never changes which product we recommend or what we say about it. The full position is on the affiliate disclosure page.
Tell us about your product and what you are looking for. Include a link to your published specifications, because that is what we will be working from.
We cannot tell you whether your specific vehicle can tow your specific trailer, and we will not try. That answer lives on your door jamb sticker and in your owner manual, and getting it wrong is not a risk we will take on your behalf. Ask us about the arithmetic and we will happily walk through it with you.
